Dwight Hora
State Jr. Vice Commander - Marines

Dwight Hora served in the Marine Corps from 1990 to 2011.  During his time he served as an Embassy Guard, Recruiter, and an Instructor.  He earned his eligibility for the VFW while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  He worked with organizations like Big Brother, Big Sister in 2 locations and spent many years on boards with the Single Marine Program.

            He earned his Associate degree in General Education from Central Texas College in 2002 in California, and his Bachelors in Business Administration in 2007 from Marian University in Indianapolis.  He earned a Dual Masters Degree in HR Development and Leadership and Management from Webster University in 2012 in Beaufort, SC.

            One of his greatest accomplishments was when he was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan in 1999.  He arrived there in September and asked a simple question to the director of the Single Marine Program.  "Have we ever done Toys for Tots drive in Iwakuni”.  10 days later he received a phone call and was told, "You are now the director of Toys for Tots, Iwakuni”.  He encouraged 30 Marines to support and in 3 months gathered over 800 toys and distributed them to 3 orphanages in Iwakuni.  This Toys for Tots drive is still an annual event in Iwakuni.

            When he retired, he was the director of "Ride for Liberty”.  This was a 9,000 mile cross country motorcycle ride to raise money and share awareness of homeless veterans.  This ride took place from 1 August, 2012 to 9 September, 2012.  This ride raised over $33,000.00 for homeless veterans.      

            He is on the Board of Directors for the Laughing Acres Family Foundation and Treat the Troops.  He is the Assistant Director of Operations for the Patriot Outpost for the RBC Heritage PGA Golf Tournament.

            He has been our State Quartermaster for the last 4 years and would like to stay in the seat to continue to build the financial strength of our Department of South Carolina.  He has a strong sense of service and is dedicated to continue to his service to veterans        

            He is a Gold Life Legacy Member of the VFW, a life member of The Military Order of the Cootie, American Veterans, Disabled American Veterans, and the Marine Corps League.  He is an annual Member of the American Legion.
