The Purpose of the Honor Guard

To Serve all Honor Guard functions of the home organization and the Community. The Honor Guard will offer service to all Veterans and Veteran functions when possible.  The Honor Guard will hold the highest level of respect for all that wore the uniform of this Country.

VFW honor guards are made up mainly of honorably discharged veterans. The most common service they provide is at funerals of fellow veterans, where they fold and present an American flag to next of kin, perform a gun salute and play Taps.

Contact the State Honor Guard Captain for more information about joining their ranks.

HONOR VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES WITHOUT TAKING A LOT OF YOUR TIME The South Carolina State Honor Guard based at Post 3433 in Summerville, is in real need for several new members.  We meet twice a month from early September to late May at the Summerville/Ladson Post.

We average about one event per month. Among regular events are district meetings, military branch reunions, Dec 7th at the U.S.S. Yorktown, funerals and state conventions.

The drill movements and rifle handling are easy to learn, and uniforms are provided. Honor Guard is open to both VFW and Auxiliary members.
