POST BENEFITS ADVISOR

As a Post Benefits Advisor (PBA), you perform a vital function: You provide information about veterans benefits to comrades and their families, urge them to file a claim with VA and connect them with an accredited representative as soon as possible. Additionally, as a PBA you are expected to be knowledgeable of the benefits and programs available to veterans in your local community. There are numerous programs and services available to veterans that are not provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs. It is your job to ensure that the veterans in your community are aware of these services.

-Post Benefits Advisors are local ambassadors of the VFW who help veterans and their families by providing information and connecting them with important resources.

PBAs must know where to direct veterans for assistance with: • VA benefits • VFW benefits • Emergency financial help • Homeless shelters • Local and State benefits such as property tax relief • Employment Resources.

The PBA representative for your post is a representative of the Commander and members of the post. That person is usually the first person to contact veterans and family members in need. Please select those individuals who desire to help veterans and families with empathy, patience, and professionalism.

This PBA Guide is a great tool to explain the duties, responsibilities and roll of the PBA in a changing landscape.
